The Barn Yard

After 38 weeks of being preggo, it's hard to believe we are finally down to the final stretch! Little Lana Joyce will be here anytime so we are posting what could be our final set of baby bump pics. Lord willing, our next post will be to introduce our precious baby girl!

Here are some updated baby bump pictures. Not sure I would call it a baby "bump" anymore since it feels more like a baby "boulder" but here ya go anyway! Lol

Today, we went to our long awaited, 34 week OBGYN appointment with ultrasound! The last time we were able to see Lana was at our 20 week ultrasound appointment so as you can imagine, we were pretty pumped to get to see how far she has come since then. The appointment went very well and to our surprise we got to see a 4D picture of our precious baby girl! Doctor Thorne said she is progressing at a healthy rate. We were also happy to discover that she has flipped head down in preparation for her birth day! At 34 weeks and 2 days, she weighed in at 5.9 pounds! At this rate, Doctor Thorne estimates she should be around 8 pounds at birth. It's a good thing we didn't invest in many new born outfits because there is a good chance she is going to skip right past them! It's still hard to believe that Lord willing, we will be meeting our precious little Lana in less than 6 weeks! Pictures are wonderful but we can't wait to meet our little miracle from God in person!

This weekend was a very special time for Brandon and myself. Our CrossPointe family threw us an absolutely beautiful baby shower and my mom, sis and nieces came all the way down from NC to share in this special memory.Brandon and I were completely humbled by the generosity and love poured on us by our friends and family.

I would like to express a sincere thank you to all of the hostesses for all the time and efforts that went into throwing us such a perfect shower. Also, thank you to all our friends and family for sharing in this memorable event and for all the beautiful gifts. Baby Lana is one blessed little girl and she doesn't even know it yet!

Okay, so I admit that I have been a total slacker when it comes to sharing bump pictures and updates on little Lana. I am now 31 weeks and 2 days prego and feeling great! Here are some pics my friend Ruby took with my iPhone during our daily walk at work. I have to say, she did an awesome job! Especially considering what she had to work with!

So, we have been a little slack in updating our blog and for that we apologize.  But concern yourself no more with whether we will update more frequently because, I assure you, we shall!  We made a New Year's resolution and everything, and everyone knows those things are never reneged on.

For our first post of the new year we figured we would bring out the big gun: the baby name.  After weeks and weeks of thoughtful consideration we have decided to name our baby girl...

Lana Joyce Barnes!

Wow.  Now that we wrote it on the internet there is no turning back! Seriously though, we are pleased with the name we found ourselves drawn to. We knew from the beginning that her middle name would be Joyce, named for Christy's late grandmother.

Lana...is the name of Superman's high school girlfriend.  That's right. While she appears in the comics/graphic novels, Christy first heard the name and took a strong liking to it as we watched the TV show Smallville, which is based on the graphic novel "Superman For All Seasons".  Now, for those of you that are thinking I'm the one that pushed this name because you know I am a huge geek please know that it was Christy's suggestion and insistence that we go with this name. I mean, everyone knows that if I had been allowed to force a name our first child - male or female - would have been named Batman Frodo Barnes. That's just how I roll.

Indeed.

In all seriousness, we are very excited about the arrival of our daughter in just a few shorts months.  Please continue to pray for us as we prepare our home and our hearts to properly care and provide for Lana Joyce physically and spiritually.
