Puppy Dog Tails or Sugar and Spice?

One of the most frequent topics of discussion with friends, family, co-workers, and random strangers that notice your wife is pregnant during the early part of the pregnancy has to be the baby's sex. If you have never experienced this, be prepared to learn every possible indicator of what exactly might be going on in there.  Where the baby is riding, the baby's heart rate, did the baby see its shadow (wait, that is Groundhog day, never mind), and so on are all examined mercilessly to figure out this pressing question.  Oh, and don't challenge someone on their assertions as this will most likely hurt their feelings and lead to a less-than-stellar baby shower gift.

Christy and I set out this week to put all speculations aside and find out fo' sure what our little bundle of joy was (other than a human baby, which we had determined already from books). Like all major life events, we used a coupon. The place we decided to use was a neat place in Columbus called Image of a Miracle.  After a short wait we were escorted back to the Ultrasound room.  At this point Christy was giggling and I was fairly concerned that she might explode in a fit of joy at any given moment.

There were a few minutes of prep and then the show got on the road.  I was conflicted between filming the screen and acknowledging/interacting with my wife during the appointment so the quality of the video isn't that great, unless you are into random starts and stops.

First off, we got some general "wow, it looks more like a baby!" moments and enjoyed watching the baby wiggle and move around.



Next, we got to experience hearing the baby's heartbeat for an extended amount of time.  It is an amazing thing to hear a baby's heart and know that it is your child's.


Now we get to the meat of the post.  So, which is it? Are we having a son or a daughter this time around? Make your guess now....

It's a girl! We are both very pleased and looking forward to meeting our daughter in a short 6 months from now.  Christy is already envisioning our daughter's wardrobe for the next 10 years (hint: think Pandas). I am already cleaning my guns and eyeing the two year old boys in the church with suspicion.  We are both very happy and are truly blessed by God.
